PHOTO FISHING COMPETITION
Get ready for an epic adventure! Head to the Endless Ocean and participate in our “photo fishing” competition. Spot 5 of our over 100 fish species in the aquarium, snap a photo, and have the chance to win a SeaWorld goodie bag!
This activity is available every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in February.
1. Māori Wrasse

Fun-Facts:
- Grows to over 230cm
- Feeds mainly on clams, crustaceans, & urchins
- Starts life as females and then the most dominant changes to a male

2. Orange Spotted Grouper
Epinephelus coioides
Location: Ocean Shelf
Fun-Facts:
- Grows to over 120cm
- Feeds on small fish, shrimps, & crabs
- Can quickly pop open a large mouth to surprise its prey

3. Moray Eel
Gymnothorax sps
Location: Cave
Fun-Facts:
- Grows to over 200cm
- Contains two sets of jaws to catch prey
- Has very poor vision but excellent smell, so hunts mostly at night

4. Powder Blue Tang
Acanthurus leucosternon
Location: Launch Bay
Fun-Facts:
- Found over Indo-Pacific reefs
- Located at the base of its caudal fin, ("tail") it has two spines used as a defense against predators
- Eats algae growing amongst reef

5. Golden Trevally
Gnathanodon specoisus
Location: Ocean Pod
Fun-Facts:
- Grows up to 120cm
- When juvenile, has bright yellow color
- Uses piloting behavior to closely swim next to larger sharks and fish
